NIACC’s Phlebotomy Certificate Program consists of three parts: theory, lab, and clinical. The theory and lab portions provide the student with training in the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, specimen collection (including venipuncture and skin punctures), specimen processing and handling, and laboratory operations. Students meet weekly in the lab for instruction in specimen collection and processing. Following the theory and lab experience, students will complete a clinical rotation in an acceptable lab, performing a minimum of 100 successful unaided venipunctures. Students will be graded on a pass-fail basis.
