Series:55-Hour Coaching Workshop
This state-approved, 55-hour online workshop course is recommended if you want to start your coursework immediately and work through the required Iowa Coaching Authorization content at your own pace. Classes include: Ethics and Theory of Coaching, Human Body Function for Coaching, Human Growth and Development for Coaching, and Prevention and Care for Coaching. This 55-hour workshop class does not satisfy the requirements for a K-12 coaching endorsement and will not qualify for college credit. If you are a K-12 teacher looking to obtain a coaching endorsement you will need to enroll in the coaching credit courses. This course requires computer and internet access. Your log in information will be sent to you via email. This class starts upon registration and must be completed within 45 days. This class will qualify for those working for their coaching authorization from the State of Iowa, but will not qualify for college credit for those students seeking a coaching endorsement. The state will require an application fee ($85) and background check fee ($35) to be included with the submission of state forms. There is also a $3 processing fee, additionally, applicants will pay $35 to Fieldprint for fingerprinting which is the other part of the background check. Applicants that are under 20 years old will need to upload a copy of their high school diploma as a required transcript into the online application for coaching authorization with the BOEE. The BOEE requires all applications to provide documentation of a current CPR certification through an approved organization (see BOEE website for the full list of approved organizations). NIACC CE offers Heartsaver CPR/AED and BLS Provider through the American Heart Association to meet this requirement. After successful completion of the 55-hour online workshop, NIACC will email you your certificate to upload with your online application with the Iowa Bureau of Educational Examiners. It will take 4-6 weeks after successful completion of the workshop and all online application components to receive authorization from the Iowa Bureau of Educational Examiners.
