This course is designed to update healthcare providers on the knowledge and skills needed in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies, acute arrhythmia, stroke, and ACS based on the AHA Guidelines. Objectives: Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED, recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest, recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia, airway management, related pharmacology, management of ACS and stroke, effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team. Pre-course Requirements: Proficient in BLS skills; reading and interpreting ECGs; understanding ACLS pharmacology. Students must complete the mandatory ECG Pharmacology pre-course self-assessment test. A passing score of 70% or above is required to attend class. Print the certificate and bring it to class. Student Manual is required for class participation and will be mailed 20 days prior to the course. Continuing Education hours are contingent upon the successful completion of the course.
