Phlebotomy Certificate

The phlebotomy certificate class consists of three parts: theory, lab, and clinical. The theory portion provides the student with information on specimen collection and processing skills. The theory portion also covers medical terminology related to phlebotomy, circulatory system anatomy, the responsibilities of a phlebotomist, types of specimen collection and their processing according to best practices, and critical thinking skills for laboratory professionals. The theory/lab portion consists of 40 hours. Students will receive qualified instruction in specimen collection and processing skills and hands-on lab experience. Students will also complete 100 hours of clinical following the theory and lab experience. Clinicals will be scheduled individually for each student based on the availability of the student and the clinical site. Students will be graded on a pass-fail basis.
