Unsolved crimes can be intriguing, haunting and sometimes even chilling. In this course we'll examine the historic and unsolved murder of Mary Rogers in 1841. As armchair detectives, we'll delve deep into the case, police and journalistic practices of the day and examine the short story that Edgar Allan Poe wrote which he based upon the mystery. It is encouraged that those attending the class familiarize themselves with Part One of the text prior to the first day of class.
