In this class, participants will be glazing a hand-built 6” stoneware ceramic lace plate. Each plate will be individually pre-made using real lace doilies to imprint the design. They will be bisque fired before the class in preparation for the glazing process. Each participant will be able to choose one of three plate designs and from approximately twenty different glaze colors. Samples will be available.
The instructor will take the glaze plates to her studio to complete the glaze firing. They will be available two weeks after the class at the NIACC Continuing Education Office.
The finished pottery piece can be used as a small serving plate for cookies, desserts, or appetizers, as a candle or jewelry holder, for display or anything else your imagination inspires. The plate will be microwave and dishwasher safe.
No skill is required. All supplies will be provided. Any participant 6th grade and above can do this class, however, children must be accompanied by an adult. Please arrive in comfortable clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and/or bring an apron. Glaze can leave permanent stains.
