« back to classes page
Enjoy mystery and crime stories but not a fan of on the page violence? Cozy mysteries are designed to be humorous and engaging filled with amateur detectives with cases set in small communities where the locations and the people are as much of the story as the mystery itself. In this workshop there will be writing exercises during each session as well as discussion of aspects of cozy mystery writing and what sets them apart from traditional crime and mystery works. The workshop is designed to help students identify the aspects of a cozy mystery and begin creating the stories characters, the crime, the environment it takes place in, and the atmosphere in which the story takes place. Creating an outline for a cozy mystery as well as a storyboard to help students continue their writing outside of class will also be part of the course.
